Overview

For this project, Grid Connect brought me in to revamp their IoT website page. The main goals were to provide information to their customers on how they can provide their service to best support their customers needs.

After getting the project brief, on came the back and forth and planning on what content we wanted to include on the page. This sparked many conversations on how I could best support them and their needs. Ultimately, we settled on a good game plan to best support Grid Connects needs and also to provide the best user experience possible.

Research

Once we got the project brief, then came wireframes and research. We collected all the sections of the page and started to create layout for each section.

With a total of 13 sections, the challenge was to keep the user involved and intrigued. Although the final page was hefty, the layout of the page made for a nice user experience as the page flowed with ease and was broken up into sizable sections.

Design

Now the the research and wireframe stage is over, we moved into the design. Grid Connect wanted to go with a dark mode page as they felt it best suited the innovation and futuristic nature of the IoT process.

With the dark mode design, there are subtle nuances from light mode. Making sure color contrasts enough on the dark backround was one of many top priorities for this design.

Keeping eye strain to an absolute minimum was essential for this design.

The Results

From start to finish, this project was a blast. Grid Connect making the switch to dark mode fit this service very well and the end result turned out great.

Seeing how color, text, and cards interact with the dark background was a fun challenge for me as the designer. Light mode was also created but both the client and I thought dark mode best fit this page.

Being able to take my skills and knowledge to this project and have the client put trust in me was a encouraging feeling. I loved how the final product turned for the IoT page.

What I learned…

This project taught me a lot about being a lead designer. Working with the project manager to create a successful design was a blast. The communication back and forth was always smooth and we solved problems very quickly.

Having a strong sense of communication was essential for this project as there were some twist and turns. Ultimately, we produced a great product and I’m happy the way it turned out.
